He asked us where that phrase came from...of course, we didn't know. Neither did my aunt and uncle who were sitting on the other couch, nor my aunt nor cousin happened to be unfortunately in the room at the time of the disturbance. But of course, in today's NEED TO KNOW (or the b-day boy's wishes) society, we turned to the one with all the answers...GOOGLE.
Apparently, the saying is said by Twinkle's the Magic Elephant, who was a part of the King Leonardo and His Short Subjects cartoon show which ran in the early sixties. So, on his 60th Birthday, he all of a sudden remembered a quote from a cartoon he watched before his teenage years....which makes me think...what obscure quotes from my childhood do I think of on a regular basis.....
The "not so obscure" one from Alice in Wonderland is "Curiouser and Curiouser"....said/thought when something, well, curious occurs...
The "more obscure" one from Alice in Wonderland is "Move down, Move down! (movedownmovedown, movedownmovedown, movedownmovedown, movedowwwwwn)"...said/thought whenever I am or a group that I am in is asked to move seats...
From Press Your Luck...Big Money, Big Money, No Whammies! (I understand it is actually "Big Bucks," but that is not what I say/think)...said/thought when I've tried something multiple times and hope that this time it will work...

Ahhh, childhood...it's a great thing to think about....now that I'm expecting a child, though, and knowing what's on TV NOW makes me a little worried what my little one will start quoting...
